My first trip to a coffee producing country was Peru. Not only did I immediately fall in love with the place, I also had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with Alfonso Cordova. He is a super passionate and kind person, and after that trip I knew I would definitely jump on buying his coffee if ever given the chance. So here is our first coffee from Peru, and it's from an amazing human being growing some spectacular coffees.
Alfonzo Cordova owns a 2-hectare farm called La Montaña which translates to The Mountain, where he grows Caturra variety coffee under an array of shade trees. Like many of his fellow members of the cooperative Lima Coffees, Alfonso holds organic certification for his farm. The coffee on La Montaña is picked ripe and depulped either the same or the following day, then given an open-air fermentation in tanks for about 30 hours. It's washed three times and then dried for about 15–25 days.
